Corrie, Chelsea and I are all in N'awlins...safely arrived! Tanya is here too, haven't seen Dr. Rolling yet. We had a great day seeing lots of interesting presentations and Corrie's presentation ROCKED. We are headed to the Crayola mardi gras party and when we get back, I'll post some pictures and notes from what we saw today. I hope Corrie and Chelsea will guest blog as well. Had my Cafe au Lait and Beignets at Cafe du Monde this morning...a beautiful way to start the day! More later!

- Kathie Maniaci is a doctoral candidate in Teaching and Curriculum in Art Education with a Literacy Studies minor. After teaching art for seven years in the Syracuse City School District, Kathie became involved in creating practical literacy support strategies that art educators could use in their classrooms. Teacher training, conference presentations and the creation of a graduate course she teaches as an adjunct at Syracuse University called Supporting Thinking and Literacy Through Visual Materials led Kathie to pursue her Ph.D. at Syracuse University. In her research, Kathie hopes to combine study of multimodal literacies in art classrooms with integrating visual art and design in all content areas as a pathway to learning for ALL students in diverse classrooms. Kathie is a Teaching Associate serving in the Department of Art Education.
